Coroner’s office identifies Las Vegas girl who died in pool after asthma attack

The 12-year-old girl who died after having an asthma attack at a pool in the northeast valley Thursday has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Alayzah Marcus was at the Cape Cod Village Apartment pool at 4231 Terrestrial Drive near East Tonopah Avenue and North Lamb Boulevard when she suffered from an asthma attack, Metro Lt. Timothy Hatchett said.

The Las Vegas fire department responded to reports of breathing problems around 1:45 p.m. The girl was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she later died, Hatchett said.

The incident appears to be medically related and is not being investigated as a drowning, police said.

Marcus’ family has created a GoFundMe page for her memorial fund. You can donate at: https://www.gofundme.com/27p4qbdw

Her mother, Jacquelyn Rawls, shared on her Facebook page and GoFundMe page that Alayzah was a “sweet, smart and caring little girl who is loved by many people, family and friends,” following with, “please help, anything will help my family in this time of need. Thank you in advance.”
