Dog dies in house fire near Lamb and Carey

A home in the eastern Las Vegas Valley was damaged and a dog died during a fire Monday morning.

One woman was in the house at 2492 Desert Glow Court, near Lamb Boulevard and Carey Avenue, when the fire started, and had already evacuated when fire crews arrived at 9 a.m., according to the Clark County Fire Department. She told firefighters that there were several animals in and around the house.

When the fire was extinguished responders found that one dog had died. There were no other injuries.

Due to the high heat, firefighters needed to drink water, rest in the shade and have their vital signs checked before they could leave the scene of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and damages have not yet been estimated.
