Dining Pick of the Week: Balboa Pizza Company

The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2265 Village Walk Drive, No. 101, 702-407-5273

Balboa Pizza Company is named after the famous Southern California beach, which means this is a laid-back, beach-style restaurant. Flip-flops are welcome. Among the thin, oblong pizzas are Napa Valley Roasted Veggie, Pesto Pine Nut Chicken, chicken and roasted garlic, goat cheese with olive oil and caramelized onions finished off with balsamic tossed spring mix and candied walnuts, and Caprese. The Wedge is a made-to-order pizza that is folded and baked. Then there are the gourmet Buffalo wings, including Original, Teriyaki, Jamaican Jerk, Thai Peanut, Southern Fried, and Whiskey. There are sandwiches such as tuna with bacon and cheddar on oven-roasted pizza bread, homemade meatloaf on sourdough, turkey Reuben on toasted marble rye, and Italian grilled cheese panini. The salads come in regular and full size, with a regular looking like a full size, including Chinese chicken, Caesar, chopped chicken, blackened chicken Cobb and lemon chicken Greek with chopped hearts of romaine, spinach, feta, roma tomatoes, cucumbers, sliced pepperoncini, Kalamata olives and balsamic vinaigrette. Several desserts are churro, carrot cake and root beer float. Wedge begins at $12.95, and six wings start at $8.95. Balboa Pizza is open 24/7, with daily happy hours from 4 to 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. — Jack Bulavsky
