Rian and RaLen Watson-Davis, 13, graduated this summer from The Summer Advanced Gifted Education Academy at UNLV.

The twins received honors college achievement certificates and a letter from President Barack Obama.

Rian's certificate was for psychology, and RaLen's was for creative writing.

They were selected as Future Leaders of America at the Hollywood Recreation Center, and RaLen was chosen to paint a mural at the Monkey Gym in Henderson.

They are eighth-grade students at K.O. Knudson Middle School and are the children of LaTansa Watson and grandchildren of Duke and Zella Watson.

Teyler-Symone Williams has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

A 2011 graduate of Rancho High School, Williams is the daughter of Vincent and Tammera Williams of Las Vegas.

Michael Mendoza has graduated from Army One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo., which included basic military training and advanced individual training.

A 2005 graduate of Foothill High School, Mendoza is the son of Loida and Ruperto Anselmo of Henderson.

Samantha White has graduated from Army basic combat training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.

White is the daughter of Malcolm White of Las Vegas.

Andrew Carlgren has graduated from Army basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

A 2011 graduate of Foothill High School in Henderson, Carlgren is the son of Shawn Carlgren of Las Vegas.

Roman Colthart has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

A 2011 graduate of Nevada State High School, Colthart is the son of Brad and Suzie Wilhelm of Henderson.

Frankie Giordano has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Giordano is the son of Frank Giordano of Henderson and Malia Chapman of Hawaii.

Barry Williams has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2012 graduate of Las Vegas High School, Williams is the son of Barry Williams Sr. of Las Vegas.

Yvette Weigold of North Las Vegas, an American Legionnaire from Post 51, District 2 vice commander, has graduated from the National American Legion College.

She was one of 55 students to be recognized for their leadership, team building, communications and mentoring skills.

Members completed a six-day crash course in the nation's largest veterans organization. The college is designed to reinforce a volunteer's leadership, management and communications skills.
