Tamas Lorinez, 21, graduated from the Ford FACT Program and Diesel Automotive Program at Universal Technical Institute in Avondale, Ariz., in August.

Lorinez is a graduate of Sierra Vista High School and is the son of Tamas and Viktoria Lorinez of Las Vegas.

Shelly L. Jumbelick, 21, graduated from basic training at Naval Station Great Lakes in Great Lakes, Ill., on Aug. 19.

A 2008 graduate of Silverado High School, Jumbelick is the daughter of James and Penni Jumbelick of Henderson.

Zachary R. Greatwood has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

A 2008 graduate of Green Valley High School, Greatwood is the son of Lynda Hubeny of Henderson.

Spencer Thomas LeFevre has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 242, LeFevre helped put together 439 whisper reader phones for Darnell Elementary School for his Eagle project.

He enjoys reading, gardening, video games, horseback riding, soccer, basketball, running and cooking in his free time.

LeFevre is the son of Kent and Christine LeFevre of Las Vegas.

Casey Jonathan Maalouf has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 430, Maalouf put together suitcases full of clothing, hygiene products, food and gift cards for 50 kids at the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth for his Eagle project. Maalouf is the son of Fadi and Tonya Maalouf of Las Vegas.

Darren Joseph Cleveland has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 340, he helped restore and improve a trail at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park for his Eagle project. Cleveland is the son of Don Cleveland and Leslie Zak.

James Butler, 22, has been named a 2010-11 Big East Academic All-Star.

Butler swims for West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va. He plans to graduate in December with a degree in communications.

A 2007 graduate of Centennial High School, he is the son of Dr. Randy and Patricia Butler of Las Vegas.

Kelsey Anderson and Madison Harris, both of Henderson, studied abroad in France this summer.

As students at the University of San Diego, they participated in a four-week faculty-led program in Paris. They were immersed in French history, tradition and culture, including visits to museums, theaters and landmarks.

Stephanie Lee Spicer of Henderson earned a Master of Science in nursing degree from Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill.

Tyronn Lue of Las Vegas has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati.
