Excerpt from ‘In the Midst of Cowboys, Crooners, and Gangsters’

Luis Estevez looked at me, and said in his accented English, “Oh yes, you have the best figure to wear my entire swimwear collection.”

I almost fell over. A whole collection?

The other models were given gowns while I was entrusted with an entire collection.

When Luis Estevez said “swimsuit collection” he didn’t mean a few swimsuits. His assortment included a whole bevy of accessories, including capes, hoods, and wraps. Most of them were not outfits you would wear for a day at the beach; they were for making a statement at a pool party where no one gets wet.
