Man arrested in California in connection to shooting death of valley teen

A man was arrested in California on Wednesday in connection to the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Tiyvone Taylor Mills in October in the central valley, the Metropolitan Police Department said Thursday.

Metro identified Jimmy Robinson Jr., 24, as a suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest Dec. 23. He was taken into custody Wednesday near Richmond, Calif., on charges of murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

Robinson is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility and awaits extradition to Las Vegas, Metro said.

The shooting happened after Mills fought with the man who shot him on Oct. 26, homicide detectives determined. Mills died from multiple gunshot wounds, the county coroner's office ruled, and by the time police arrived at 9:30 p.m. at the apartment complex on the 6300 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard, he was already dead.

Surveillance video shows the fight starting in the apartment complex's parking lot before the shooting. After, it also shows the man who shot Mills running from the scene with another man.
