Man indicted in series of Las Vegas robberies

A Las Vegas man was indicted Wednesday in connection with what prosecutors said was a string of robberies in the northwest valley.

Ranjoseph Wallace, 25, faces four counts of burglary while in possession of a firearm, three counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon, three counts of attempted robbery with use of a deadly weapon, one count of robbery with use of a deadly weapon with a victim older than 60, and one count of child abuse, neglect or endangerment.

Prosecutor John Giordani said the four robberies — at two convenience stores, a saloon and a Mexican restaurant — occurred in daytime and early morning hours between June 1 and June 13. Police believe Wallace had stolen between $500 and $600.

At Tony’s Mexican Food on north Jones Boulevard, Wallace pointed a gun at a couple with a 1-year-old child as they tried to leave, authorities said. He demanded money from the couple, but then turned his attention toward the cashier before the patrons ran out of the restaurant.

Police found surveillance video of the suspect inside a smoke shop before the restaurant was robbed, and a security guard at nearby apartment complex recognized him. When officers arrived, Wallace tried to hide behind a dumpster before running and jumping into a pool, where he was captured.

Wallace, who is in custody at the Clark County Detention Center, was ordered held on $500,000 bail. He is slated for a July 24 arraignment.
