Pedestrian killed in North Las Vegas crash

A 65-year-old man was struck and killed by a pickup in North Las Vegas late Thursday.

The man was crossing East Lake Mead Boulevard just west of North Pecos Road while outside of a marked crosswalk about 7:20 p.m., North Las Vegas police spokeswoman Ann Cavaricci said. That’s when someone driving a Ford F-150 west on Lake Mead slammed into the man.

The driver of the truck stayed on scene, and neither speed nor impairment appeared to be a factor, Cavaricci said.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center, where he was declared dead.

Cavaricci urged pedestrians to carefully cross streets in crosswalks and for drivers to “always be looking out for pedestrians.”

The Clark County coroner’s office will name the man who died once his family has been notified.

Expect delays in the area as North Las Vegas police continue to investigate Thursday night.
