Pedestrian struck, killed in Henderson identified
The 91-year-old man who was struck and killed while crossing a Henderson street Monday afternoon has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.
He is Alberto Ciaglia of Las Vegas, staff said Tuesday.
Ciaglia was walking east about 1 p.m. across Whitney Ranch Drive, which weaves past residential neighborhoods between Sunset and Russell roads. A 49-year-old woman driving south in a 2008 two-door Chrysler struck him. Henderson police said he was not in a marked crosswalk.
Ciaglia was transported with critical injuries to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died, police said. The other driver remained at the scene.
Although the crash remains under investigation, police said neither speed nor alcohol were factors. Southbound Whitney Ranch was closed for about 2½ hours after the crash.
