Police: Henderson man tried to lure ‘child’ into sex

A Henderson man was indicted Tuesday after authorities say he was linked to a sex crime involving what he thought was a minor, according to the Clark County district attorney’s office.

Matthew William Cartwright, 43, faces a charge of luring or attempting to lure a person believed to be a child.

Henderson police say they caught Cartwright talking with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl over the Internet in May, according to court documents. He intended to persuade the “child” to participate in sexual acts, authorities say.

But the 14-year-old girl was actually an undercover detective, court documents say.
