Police identify man who shot at officers during Thursday traffic stop

Las Vegas police identified the man police say shot at officers during a traffic stop on Thursday.

Joshua Bacharach of Las Vegas has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center, and the 30 year old is facing charges of attempted murder, felony evasion and two weapons-related charges.

Police say a patrol officer, identified Sunday as 38-year-old Ryan McNabb, attempted to stop a vehicle in area of Lake Mead Boulevard and Walnut Road, when someone in the vehicle fired several shots at approximately 10:45 p.m.

The vehicle fled and continued firing as the officer followed and later located the vehicle in the area of Carey Avenue and Dolly Lane.

As the officer approached, the more gunshots erupted from the vehicle. The officer shot back, and a man ran south into a neighborhood, police say.

Patrol officers and a K-9 officer located the man in the 4500 block of El Tovar Avenue. The officers gave several orders to surrender, but the suspect did not comply.

Police sent the dog after the man, who was taken into custody. Officers were not injured during the exchange of gunfire.

The man was transported to the University Medical Center, where he was treated for dog bites. No other injuries were reported, police said.

McNabb has been employed with Las Vegas police since 2004 and is assigned to the patrol division with the northeast area command. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.
