Police probe ‘high-value’ jewelry store heist

Las Vegas police responded to what they called a “high-value burglary” Monday morning inside a local jewelry store.

Officers were called to Frank Melaerts Jewelers, at 421 S. Decatur Blvd., near U.S. Highway 95, at about 9 a.m., Las Vegas police said.

Few details were available Monday morning.

A woman who identified herself as the owner’s daughter said this was the third time the jewelry store was robbed — once at gunpoint. She declined further comment.

On Monday morning, detectives were seen going in and out of the store in a small strip of businesses that included a barber shop, a boutique and a restaurant.
