Search continues for missing 13-year-old

A valley rescue team has joined an effort to find an “endangered” 13-year-old girl who went missing in the southeast valley on Monday morning, Red Rock Search and Rescue said on Sunday.

Camila Cortez, 13, also known as “Cami,” was last seen about 8 a.m. on Monday morning, the rescue team said. She last wore tan pants, a Schofield Middle School sweatshirt and a cheetah-print backpack.

She may be suicidal, according to the rescue team.

She was reported as a runaway on Tuesday morning, according to Las Vegas police logs. The call came from a home near the intersection of Windmill Lane and Spencer Street.

Cortez is described as standing at 5 feet 7 inches, being medium built, with “distinguishing” moles on opposite sides of her top lip.

Further details on her disappearance or the investigation were not immediately available, but Cortez is believed to possibly be in North Las Vegas, according to the rescue team.

A $500 reward is being offered for any information leading to her whereabouts, the rescue team said.

Anyone with information is told to call police or 512-815-6402.
