Second driver in street racing crash arrested

A man who police said left the scene of a street race that resulted in another man’s death was arrested on Wednesday, Las Vegas police said on Thursday morning.

Francisco Alcaraz, 19, of Las Vegas, was booked in the Clark County Detention Center and is facing reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of a fatal accident charges, police said.

Micheal Aviles, 19, died early Monday morning when he lost control of his 1998 Pontiac Firebird during a street race on Spanish Ridge Avenue, near Russell Road and Durango Drive, police said. Aviles hit a block wall before crashing into the 1998 Honda CRX Alcaraz was driving, police said.

Alcaraz left the CRX on the scene and fled on foot, police said.
