Toddler critical after being found in northwest Las Vegas residential pool

A 2-year-old child was found floating in backyard pool in the far northwest valley Friday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.

Metro responded about 5:10 p.m. to a residential pool on the 9900 block of North El Capitan Way, near Log Cabin Way, Lt. Brian Cole said.

The toddler was taken to Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center before a transfer to Summerlin Hospital Medical Center. Metro said the child is in critical condition.

Other adults and children were there but didn’t see the child enter the pool. He said it wasn’t clear how long the toddler was in the pool before being found.

Metropolitan Police Department abuse and neglect detectives are investigating.
