Updated March 15, 2022 - 10:57 pm

A man died Tuesday night after a two-vehicle collision in North Las Vegas, police said.

The crash occurred at North Decatur Boulevard and West Gowan Road around 7:45 p.m.

A Dodge pickup truck was heading north on North Decatur Boulevard at a high rate of speed while a white sedan was traveling west from Rancho Rea Parkway, according to North Las Vegas Police Department spokesman Alex Cuevas.

The pickup struck the sedan and sent it about 125 feet from the collision, Cuevas said.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver fled the scene, he said. The man killed was believed to be in his 60s.

He said the driver of the pickup, a man believed to be in his 30s, was later apprehended by Las Vegas police.

Cuevas said the surviving driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries but was expected to be jailed on a charge of DUI resulting in death among other charges. North Decatur Boulevard was closed from West Gowan Road to West Cheyenne Boulevard, he said.
