Pedestrian dies in west Las Vegas crash

A pedestrian died Thursday night in a crash involving two vehicles in the west valley.

The crash happened on South Decatur Boulevard, just north of West Reno Avenue, at 6:32 p.m., Las Vegas police said. The pedestrian has not been identified.

In a statement, police said “a 2019 ToyotaTundra was traveling north on Decatur Boulevard at Reno Avenue in the right-most travel lane. A 2024 Hyundai Elantra was traveling north on Decatur south of Reno in the center travel lane. A pedestrian entered the roadway outside of a marked or implied crosswalk and entered the path of the Toyota. A collision occurred when the front left of the Toyota contacted the pedestrian. The pedestrian was projected into the center travel lane, and the front of the Hyundai contacted the pedestrian. The Toyota and the Hyundai came to a controlled stop north of the collision.”

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the Toyota and Hyundai remained at the scene and were not impaired, police said.

The pedestrian’s death marks the 23rd traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2025.
