Sunny week ahead for Las Vegas, with rain forecast for weekend

The valley will be sunny with highs in the upper 50s during the week before rain is expected over the weekend.

Tuesday’s high was 57 degrees with a low near 31, which is just a few degrees above normal, meteorologist John Salmen said.

Wednesday has a forecast high of 59 degrees and Thursday a high of 57 degrees, the Weather Service said.

Friday’s forecast high is 59 degrees with 30 percent chance of rain, Salmen said.

Winds are expected to pick up Friday with speeds about 15 to 25 miles per hour. Saturday will have stronger winds between 20 and 30 mph and a high of 56 degrees, the Weather Service said.

A 50 percent chance for rain is expected in the valley and the precipitation could leave a significant amount of snow on the Spring Mountains, Salmen said.
