Bishop Gorman’s Austin Wells wins Gatorade award

Bishop Gorman junior baseball player Austin Wells was named the Gatorade Nevada Player of the Year on Tuesday.

Wells batted .500 with eight home runs and 47 RBIs this spring, leading the Gaels to the Sunset Region title and a berth in the Class 4A state tournament.

Wells also had 14 doubles and five triples for Gorman, which finished 30-7. He has committed to play at Arizona.

Wells is the seventh Bishop Gorman baseball to win the Gatorade Nevada Player of the Year award.
