Roundup: Clark wins twice to open Cowboy Classic

Jose Garcia doubled and had three RBIs Saturday as Clark’s baseball team out-slugged host Del Sol, 13-11 in four innings at the Cowboy Classic.

Koby Cornejo, Luke Miles, Dylan King and Maverick Blodgett each doubled and scored twice for the Chargers.

Chandler Miller hit a home run for Del Sol, and Javier Marti, Gelkis Digurnay and Bradley Walton each hit a double.

Las Vegas 4-3, Salem Hills (Utah) 3-13 — At St. George, Utah, Kevin Verduzco spun a complete and allowed one earned run to help the Wildcats beat the Skyhawks in their first game in U.S. Bank Spring Dust Off.

Payton Miller was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for Las Vegas, and Verduzco had an RBI.

In the championship game at night, the Wildacts dropped a five-inning decision.

Clark 11, Lincoln County 6 — At Del Sol, Maverick Blodgett was 3-for-3 with five RBIs as the Chargers stormed past the Lynx in five innings at the Cowboys Classic.

Koby Cornejo and Dylan King each had a double and two runs for the Chargers, and Luke Miles had two RBIs and three runs.

Franklin Toledo had a double for the Lynx.

Canyon Springs 11, Tech 6 — At Tech, Gavin Rhynes hit a home run, knocked in two and scored twice as the Pioneers topped the Roadrunners in four innings at the Cowboy Classic.

Martin Blake had two doubles, three RBIs and three runs for the Pioneers, and Curtis Omeir doubled. Aiden Moriarty tripled and scored twoce for Canyon Springs.

Aaron Shelton and Adrian Perez each hit home runs for the Roadrunners.

Desert Pines 11, Eldorado 3 — At Eldorado, Jorge Milian had a triple, double and two RBIs to lead the Jaguars over the Sundevils in the Cowboy Classic.

Steven Laureano had three RBIs for the Jaguars, who got 6⅔ innings from James Greco with one earned run allowed.

Julio Rodarte doubled and scored for the Sundevils.

Mojave 11, Canyon Springs 2 — At Tech, Rudy Fernandez had a double and three RBIs as the Rattlers topped the Pioneers in six innings at the Cowboy Classic.

Mike Cianci threw a complete game with eight strikeouts for the Rattlers, Logan Forepaugh had three RBIs, and Tyler Beadles hit a double.

Martin Blake doubled for the Pioneers.

Chaparral 10, Western 0 — At Chaparral, Christian Calzada and Cannon Greene combined on a five-inning four-hitter as the Cowboys topped the Warriors in the Cowboy Classic.

Calzada allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out five in 4⅓ innings of work.

Rodney Elosegui went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs, and Greene went 2-for-4 and scored twice for Chaparral. Alfredo Ramirez was 1-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBIs for the Cowboys, who ended the game via the run rule when Dennis Perez was hit by a pitch after three consecutive walks in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Desert Pines 10, Virgin Valley 0 — At Eldorado, the Jaguars exploded for eight runs in the fifth innings to beat the Bulldogs in five innings at the Cowboy Classic.

James Greco was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Jaguars, and Juan Castaneda had a double, RBI and run scored.

Cesar Bailon tripled and knocked in who for Desert Pines, and Salvador Becerra threw a shutout.

Lincoln County 19, Del Sol 9 — At Del Sol, Dean Ottley was 3-for-5 with three doubles to lead the Lynx in a five-inning win against the Dragons.

Tristan Davis had two doubles for the Lynx, Kobe Kelley had a double, and Kobe Walker tripled.

Sebastian Curran was 2-for-3 for Del Sol.

Western 14, Valley 2 — At Chaparral, Tyler Matthews threw a complete game with no earned runs, three hits and five strikeouts to help the Warriors beat the Vikings in five innings at the Cowboy Classic.

Christopher Williams and Gilbert Johnson each had two RBIs for the Warriors, and Mark Gastelum and Mathews both scored twice.

Gatlin Hardiman and Gustavo Donate scored Valley’s runs.

Virgin Valley 17, Eldorado 4 — At Eldorado, Cade Anderson was 2-for-4 with a triple, double, three RBIs and three runs to power the Bulldogs to a four-inning win over the Sundevils in the Cowboys Classic.

Dillan Fuqua was 2-for-2 with a walk, three RBIs and three runs for the Bulldogs, and Dallan Tanner and Booker Wakefield each hit a double.

Alex Guerra had Eldorado’s hit.

Chaparral 15, Valley 0 — At Chaparral, Jacob Mauro had a double, three RBIs and two runs as the Cowboys routed the Vikings in three innings at the Cowboy Classic.

Chaparral’s Robert O’Connor doubled and knocked in two, and Talon Greene scored three times.

James Cobian threw a no-hitter, and hit a double.

Tech 16, Mojave 0 — At Tech, winning pitcher Gabe Kermode was 3-for-3 with four RBIs as the Roadrunners routed the Rattlers in three innings at the Cowboy Classic.

Sean Jones had a double and four RBIs for the Roadrunners, and Jose Leon had a double, three RBIs and three runs.

Tech’s Sean Morgan had a double, two RBIs and two runs.

Snow Canyon (Utah) 7-8, Shadow Ridge 1-3 — At St. George, Utah, Austin Cullor scored the Mustangs’ lone run as they fell to the Warriors in six innings of the first game at the U.S. Bank Spring Dust Off.

Tyler Vizcarra had an RBI for the Mustangs, who were held to three hits.

Austin Deming hit a home run for Snow Canyon.

In the second game, Brennan Lyman doubled and all three RBIs in the Mustangs’ loss to the Warriors.

Cullor scored twice for Shadow Ridge.

Deming and Tim Shakespeare each homered and had three RBIs in the second game.
