ROUNDUP: Willis powers Coronado boys past Kernels

Jordan Willis had 27 points and 10 rebounds Thursday to lead Coronado’s boys basketball team to an 80-63 win over host Mitchell (S.D.) in the Mike Miller Classic.

Justice Augmon added 14 points and nine rebounds, and Charlie Teixeira scored 14 for the Cougars, who got 10 points from Rasheed Westbrook and 10 rebounds from Ricardo Robinson.

Cimarron-Memorial 67, Bismarck (N.D.) 61 — At Gillette, Wyo., Donald Hardaway and Cody Newton each had 17 points to help the Spartans down the Demons in a quarterfinal of the Gillette Energy Classic.

Austin Garrison added nine points for Cimarron, which went 15-for-16 from the free-throw line in the second half and overcame an eight-point fourth-quarter deficit.

Tyler Unruh led Bismarck with 16 points.

Centennial 63, Walther Lutheran (Ill.) 56 — At Elgin, Ill., Marcus Allen tallied 25 points, and Malcolm Allen added 23 points to lead the Bulldogs to a win in the quarterfinals of the Elgin High Holiday Tournament.

Khalil Thompson drew three charging fouls in the fourth quarter to help Centennial preserve the lead.

Jon Fuqua paced Walther Lutheran with 16 points.

Bishop Gorman 69, Franklin (Ohio) 55 — At Myrtle Beach, S.C., Rashad Muhammad tallied 22 points to help the Gaels tame the Wildcats in the first round of the Beach Ball Classic.

Noah Robotham had 15 points, and Stephen Zimmerman added 12 points and eight rebounds for Gorman.

Luke Kennard had 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead Franklin.

Silverado 66, Brawley (Calif.) 46 — At Palm Springs, Calif., Joe Baldi tallied 13 points to help the Skyhawks top the Wildcats in the Maxpreps Holiday Classic.

Isaiah Glover added nine points and 10 rebounds for Silverado.

Boulder City 79, California Military Institute 18 — At Menifee, Calif., Joe Miller and Kaleb Bailey each had 12 points, and the Eagles raced to leads of 27-2 after one quarter and 56-13 at the half in a rout of the Rough Riders in the Paloma Valley Winter Shootout.

Marcus Walker and Tyler Newby added nine points apiece for Boulder City.

El Toro (Calif.) 79. Green Valley 53 — At Palm Springs, Calif., Clyde Austin had 13 points as the Gators fell in the Maxpreps Holiday Classic.

Troy Cropper added 11 points for Green Valley.

Parowan (Utah) 67, Lincoln County 57 — At Cedar City, Utah, Justin Hulet poured in 32 points to lead the Rams by the Lynx in the Steve Hodson Classic.

Ryan Rippetoe paced Lincoln County with 24 points. Chandler Katschke scored 14, and Preston Avery added 11 points for the Lynx.

Foothill 67, Kalaheo (Hawaii) 37 — At Honolulu, Chris Echols led five double-figure scorers with 16 points, and the Falcons used a 19-5 second-quarter run to advance to the semifinals of the Merv Lopes Hoops Classic.

Austin Starr added 12 points, all on 3-pointers, and Elijah Smith had 11 points for Foothill, which got 10 points apiece from Brannon Cresanto and Ian Ellis.

Desert Pines junior Anthony Swift turns potential into production

Swift sat out the high school season after transferring from Durango to Desert Pines, but returned to competitive basketball during the club season with the Las Vegas Knicks, with whom he reached the under-16 championship game Sunday in the Fantastic 40 at the Tarkanian Basketball Academy.
