Pahranagat Valley holds off Thacher for 95th consecutive win

Pahranagat Valley’s defense stopped a pair of drives inside the 5-yard-line on Saturday as the Panthers defeated visiting Thacher (California), 22-8.
It was the 95th consecutive win for Pahranagat Valley (2-0).
The Toads (0-1) had the ball inside the 5 at the end of the third quarter with Pahranagat Valley leading, 22-8. But Thacher fumbled, and Brodey Maxwell recovered at the Pahranagat Valley 1-yard-line on the final play of the quarter.
The Toads had another chance to score late in the fourth quarter, as they had first-and-goal from the 3. But a pair of penalties helped slow Thacher, and Ike Taylor broke up a pass on fourth-and-goal pass from the 8-yard line to end the drive with 3:47 to play.
Tabor Maxwell threw three touchdown passes to lead Pahranagat Valley, which led 14-8 at the half and extended its lead to 22-8 on Tabor Maxwell’s 38-yard TD pass to Christian Higbee with 3:43 to go in the third quarter.
Pahranagat Valley led 14-0 before Laurence Jackson’s rushing touchdown midway through the second quarter cut it to 14-8.
