Roundup: Aarjav Patel helps Gorman to Southwest win

Aarjav Patel shot par 72 at Spanish Trail on Tuesday to earn medalist honors and help Bishop Gorman’s boys golf team win a Southwest League match.

Jake Johnson added a 78, and Leo Torres shot 80 for the Gaels, who had a team score of 314.

Desert Oasis shot 336. Sierra Vista was third at 398, and Silverado was fourth at 414.

Desert Oasis’ Tim Cook shot 79.

Faith Lutheran wins Northwest match

At Paiute, Canon Olkowski shot 1-over 73 to help Faith Lutheran win a Northwest League match.

Samuel Baral added a 74, and Aidan Goldstein shot 77 for the Crusaders, who shot 303 as a team. Shadow Ridge was second with 321, followed by Arbor View (328), Palo Verde (333) and Centennial (460).

Arbor View’s Hazen Newman was the medalist with a 68, and teammate Kameron Kelsey shot 74.

Shadow Ridge’s Nicholas Kilgore carded a 76.

Rancho claims Northeast match

At Stallion Mountain, Rancho had five of the top nine golfers to win a Northeast League match.

Dillon Cassell carded an 18-over 90 to lead the Rams, who scored 403 as a team. Las Vegas shot 444 and was the only other school to post a team score.

Eldorado’s Matthew Manganello shot 71 to earn medalist honors.

Las Vegas’ Nic Jensen shot 78.

All-state teams to be announced in June

All-state teams in all eight spring sports will be released one per day, beginning on June 6 with boys golf.

State Golf: Michael Sarro, Coronado hold Class 4A leads

Coronado senior Michael Sarro birdied the 18th hole Monday to grab a share of the lead at the halfway point of the Class 4A state boys golf tournament at Somersett Country Club in Reno.

Mountain: Eldorado’s Matthew Manganello holds on for win

Manganello shot 72 on the second day of the Mountain Region golf tournament to finish with a two-day total of 139 — and his second region championship at Reflection Bay on Wednesday evening.
