Man shot, killed in east valley Saturday morning identified

The man who was shot and killed in the east valley early Saturday morning has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.

Marcial Heriberto Diaz, 60, died of a gun shot wound to the chest as he was walking near Marion Drive and East Lake Mead Boulevard at about 1:16 a.m.

Metro Lt. Rick Given said the department received 911 calls about gunshots in the area, however, they did not have a description of a suspect. When police arrived on the scene, they found Diaz with gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Medical Center where he later died, Given said.

Although Las Vegas police do not have any witnesses, homicide detectives say Diaz could have been a victim of robbery, police said.
