Relief from scorching heat on horizon in Las Vegas Valley

The Las Vegas Valley forecast calls for slightly cooler temperatures and higher wind gusts this week, the National Weather Service said.

Monday’s high reached 109 degrees; the overnight low Monday night is expected to be 81 degrees, the weather service said.

If Monday’s high had reached 110 degrees, it would have tied the previous record for the most consecutive days to reach 110 degrees or above, meteorologist Barry Pierce said. The record, set in 1961, is 10 consecutive days.

Tuesday’s forecast has a high of 106 degrees with wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph in the afternoon, Pierce said.

Wednesday and Thursday’s high temperatures are expected to be 105 degrees and 104 degrees, respectively, the weather service said.
