Spencer Messina has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 476, he painted fences at Arroyo Grande Sports Complex in Henderson for his Eagle project.

He enjoys volleyball, hiking, mountain biking, reading and unicycling. He hopes to be a physician.

A student at Coronado High School, Messina is the son of Mike and Deanna Messina of Henderson.

Royce Rasmussen has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 524, he assembled child identity kits for his Eagle project.

He enjoys cross country and lacrosse, and owns his own mobile detail business. A 2012 graduate of Spring Valley High School, he hopes to become a surgeon.

Rasmussen is the son of Theresa Rasmussen of Las Vegas.

Sean Flynn has been selected for membership in The National Society of High School Scholars. The society recognizes top scholars who have achieved academic excellence.

Flynn is an orchestra major at Las Vegas Academy, where he is a senior.

He is the son of Teri Flynn and grandson of Stephen and Mary Springer, all of Las Vegas.

Kyle Dolezal graduated July 6 from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is now attending advanced training at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss.

Dolezal graduated from high school in Tucson, Ariz. He is the grandson of Richard and Carol Kerner of Las Vegas.

Marc Keller, 17, of Las Vegas, has been recognized for superior academic achievement by the National Society of High School Scholars.

A student at Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy, Keller hopes to attend college next fall, join the National Guard and train to become a police officer.

He enjoys playing basketball and going to the gym.

Keller is the son of Robin Gjurich and stepson of Michael Gjurich of Las Vegas.

Steven Stembridge, 18, has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 199, Stembridge graduated from Basic High School this year. He was valedictorian, was a member of the cross country team, played volleyball and was on the yearbook staff.

He hopes to become an engineer.

Stembridge is the son of Steven and Jodie Stembridge of Henderson.

Michael Hillman has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

A 2011 graduate of Liberty High School in Henderson, Hillman is the son of Tina Hillman and brother of Cheyanne Hillman, both of Henderson.

Brandon Smith has graduated from Army basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

A 2011 graduate of Western High School, Smith is the son of Carolyn Evans of Las Vegas.

Samantha Reed of Las Vegas has been named to the dean's list at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, for the spring 2012 semester.

Kaitlin Busser of Henderson has been named to the dean's list at Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at Binghamton University in Binghamton, N.Y., for the spring 2012 semester.

Anjalique Christensen has graduated from Army basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

Christensen is the daughter of James Christensen of Henderson and Maria Christensen of Avondale, Ariz.

Ariane Both, 21, has graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.

Both, a 2008 valedictorian graduate of Clark High School, is pursuing a master's degree in chemical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh this fall.

She is the daughter of Marinus Both and Bree Westerlund of Las Vegas.
