Dining Out: Whist Stove and Spirits

DINING OUT

WHIST STOVE AND SPIRITS, THE DISTRICT AT GREEN VALLEY RANCH, 2235 VILLAGE WALK DRIVE, HENDERSON

Whist Stove and Spirits, which opened earlier this month, is from Ryan Doherty, Justin Weniger and Kenna Warner, the team behind Commonwealth and Park on Fremont in downtown Las Vegas and Blvd. Cocktail Co. at The Linq on the Strip. Entry to the 3,000-square-foot restaurant is through a patio surrounded by a garden. The restaurant’s name refers to a Victorian-era card game, and the oversized doors open to vaulted ceilings and velvet seating lighted by crystal chandeliers. Whist serves breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch, dinner and late-night. Here’s a sample of the menu:

Appetizers: Corn hush puppies, $7; curried chicken skewers, $8; sweet corn soup, $6, seafood hot pot, $15; duel of crudo, $13.
