Clark County coroner IDs man killed Sunday in crash near Moapa

The man killed Sunday morning in a rollover crash near Moapa has been identified by the Clark County coroner.

Mario Anthony Martinez, 29, of Salt Lake City, died at the scene of the rollover crash on Interstate 15 near mile marker 100, north of Moapa, Nevada Highway Patrol spokeswoman Chelsea Stuenkel said.

According to NHP, a Toyota 4 Runner was traveling south on Interstate 15 approaching mile marker 102 in the left travel lane. “The driver of the Toyota failed to maintain the vehicle’s lane causing the Toyota to enter the east dirt shoulder,” NHP said in a news release.

According to NHP, Martinez was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The Toyota 4 Runner was the only car involved in the crash. The cause of the crash is unknown. Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene, NHP said.

This crash was the 44th fatal crash for 2016 in the Nevada Highway Patrol Southern Command’s jurisdiction, the release said.
