Family displaced after fire in east Las Vegas home

A family of six safely escaped a fire in their east Las Vegas Valley home Tuesday morning.

The Clark County Fire Department responded to a high-level structure fire at 5:08 a.m. at the home, 4970 Idaho Ave., near Nellis and Charleston boulevards, according to the department.

The single-story home had smoke coming from the front of the structure when firefighters arrived. More smoke and flames were coming from a room at the rear of the house and the fire spread to the attic, according to fire officials.

The firefighters were able to make their way to the back room and extinguish the fire by 5:33 a.m.

Red Cross was notified to assist the two adults and four children. No injuries were reported and no estimate of the amount of damage has been made.
