35-year-old prison inmate in Carson City dies

A prison inmate in Carson City died Wednesday night, the Nevada Department of Corrections said.

Matthew Madrid, 35, died at around 11 p.m. at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center’s medical facility, in Carson City, spokeswoman Brooke Keast said in a statement.

Madrid was serving 100 to 432 months for parole violation, battery with a deadly weapon, robbery, use of a deadly weapon enhancement and ex-felon in possession of firearm, Keast said.

The release didn’t state the cause and manner of Madrid’s death.

The Carson City sheriff’s office coroner is conducting the autopsy.
