Uber says it will deliver free ice cream Friday in Las Vegas

I scream, you scream, we all scream … for Uber?

The ride-sharing company will dispatch drivers to deliver free ice cream throughout the Las Vegas Valley from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday to anyone who places an order on the popular smartphone app.

Here’s the scoop: You don’t have to hop into an Uber vehicle to participate. This will be the first time Las Vegans will have an option to order a cold treat from the company, while supplies last.

The promotion started four years ago in a handful of cities as a way to celebrate National Ice Cream Month, Uber spokeswoman Maui Cheska Orozco said. The stunt’s growing popularity drove Uber to expand it this year to 400 cities around the world.

Magnum Ice Cream donated more than 2,000 vanilla ice cream bars dipped in milk chocolate, which are expected to remain frozen inside coolers packed with dry ice, Orozco said.

Drivers will also make “surprise stops” to deliver ice cream bars, including the Nevada Highway Patrol’s station, the Metropolitan Police Department’s headquarters and to children participating in summer camp at Mirabelli Community Center.

And just like with rides, feel free to tip your delivery driver.
