Nicholas Darden, 25, has graduated from Navy basic military training at Great Lakes Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

He is based on the USS San Diego in San Diego.

A 2007 graduate of Basic High School, Darden also attended UNLV.

He is the son of Doug and Maggie Darden of Henderson.

David Tottori Jr., 17, signed a letter of intent with the University of Hawaii at Hilo on Nov. 20 to play golf.

Tottori, a student at Beacon Academy of Nevada, is the son of David Tottori and Carolyn Tottori, brother of Kimmy Tottori, all of Las Vegas.

Michael Sprenz has achieved Eagle status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 246, Sprenz collected more than 1,700 knit caps for patients at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada and 21st Century Oncology for his Eagle project.

Sprenz enjoys acting, singing, dancing, playing piano and cello, cooking and playing video games.

He is the son of Kevin and Melissa Sprenz of Las Vegas.

Alexander Bice has achieved Eagle status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 208, Bice collected 132 new pairs of shoes for Operation School Bell and assisted in distributing new shoes and clothing to children in need for his Eagle project.

Bice enjoys cross country, track, technical theater, reading and hiking.

He is the son of Todd and Stephanie Bice of Las Vegas.

Adam Symmonds has graduated from Air Force basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

Symmonds is a 2004 graduate of Las Vegas Academy.

The American Legion Auxiliary Junior Unit No. 14 has been named Department of Nevada Junior Unit of the Year.

Members were honored at an awards ceremony featuring guest speaker United States Air Force Capt. Evin Greensfelder.

The unit, whose members’ ages range from 6 to 17, volunteered in 48 events, served 310 hours and provided services to 1,241 veterans, 1,461 active-duty military and 214 military families.

The unit includes Tara Kelleher, Lexi Payne-Isaacs, Judy Cobb, Kyra Schindler, Stasia Reed, Olivia Nulty, Sage Nulty, Maysea Nulty, Kiara Woodstock, Laila Elamrani and Lexi Reed.

Asia Armstrong of North Las Vegas has been named to the dean’s list at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., for the spring 2013 semester.

Waiyuen Tse has graduated from Army basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

Tse is the son of Ringo Tse and Grace To of Las Vegas.

Nathan Martin has graduated from Army basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

A 2012 graduate of Centennial High School, Martin is the son of Scott Martin of Orlando, Fla., and Rachel Martin of Las Vegas.

Andrew Badillo of Henderson has been named to the dean’s list at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., for the spring 2013 semester.

Chad Bloomer has graduated from Army basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

A 2008 graduate of Cimarron-Memorial High School, Bloomer is the son of Hal and Patricia Bloomer of Las Vegas and Debra Beltran of Garland, Texas.

Kaitlyn Blum of Las Vegas has been named to the dean’s list at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., for the spring 2013 semester.
