Menu at The Center’s Bronze Cafe satisfying for vegan and omnivore alike

The Bronze Cafe inside The Gay & Lesbian Center of Southern Nevada, commonly known as The Center, at 401 S. Maryland Parkway, doesn’t just welcome people of any gender and sexuality; it also welcomes people of any diet and lifestyle, whether they’re vegan, vegetarian or omnivore.

The menu created by executive chef Peter Bastien is meant to appeal to every type of diner with its homemade raw almond butters, almond milk, vegan sour cream and vinaigrettes.

The non-vegan menu also offers omnivore counterparts to its vegan offerings.

For those getting a head start on their morning and looking for a healthy meal, breakfast options include the Swedish Oatmeal ($4.50), made with gluten-free oats soaked overnight in non-GMO Silk almond milk, mixed with apples, bananas, dried cranberries and slivered almonds and sweetened with raw agave nectar and cinnamon (the dish is served cold).

Lunchtime items are just as varied and include healthy and savory options. The popular Tree of Life Pita ($9.95) is made with mixed greens, house-made lemon vinaigrette, roasted red peppers, avocado, tomatoes, house-made sweet pickled onions and vegan cashew “crema” with Brazil nut crumble tucked in a warm pita flatbed. The Whoop Whoop ($8.95) sandwich is made with vegan pepperoni, Italian-style Tofurky slices, mixed greens, house-made oregano vinaigrette, house-made vegan basil aioli, tomatoes and red onion inside ciabatta bread.

Another delicious sandwich is the Vegucated Order ($12.90), which comes with non-GMO soy “bacon” strips, house-made coconut “bacon” jam, oven-roasted Tofurky slices, avocado, mixed greens, house-made lemon vinaigrette, tomatoes, cucumber and house-made vegan basil aioli inside ciabatta bread — a perfect blend of sweet and savory.

Craving soup or a salad? The Bizness David’s Special ($9.95) comes with thinly chopped massaged kale with house-made lemon vinaigrette and topped with any three sides: roasted beets, curried quinoa, spiced chickpeas, shredded carrots, diced avocado and hemp seeds.

Soups are changed daily and start at $4.95.

The chile verde soup comes with black beans, corn, carrots and chile verde for an added spice kick.

To drink, beverages include fresh fruit waters, house-made raw almond milks, smoothies, coffees and teas.

For those with a sweet tooth, the cafe offers chocolate chip cookies, oat bars, muffins and vegan cheesecakes made with cashews and coconut oil. Most desserts are also vegan.

The Bronze Cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Call 702-733-9800 or visit thecenterlv.org.
