STAR Scholarship: PEO Chapter W of Las Vegas announced June 20 that Shalini Shah of Las Vegas is a recipient of a PEO 2016-2017 STAR Scholarship worth $2,500. Shah, the only Nevada recipient, attended The Meadows School and, in the fall, will attend the University of Rochester Early Medical School (REMS) program. Shah is a National Merit Finalist and AP Scholar with Distinction. Visit peointernational.org.

Winged Heart Award: The Clark County Medical Society announced the recipients of its fourth annual Winged Heart Award, recognizing local nurses and health related nonprofits, and the Student Rising Star Award that recognizes outstanding medical students at the 62nd annual President’s Installation & Awards Ceremony on June 18 at the Westgate Hotel. This year’s Winged Heart Award nursing recipient is Krystal Coffman, a nurse practitioner at Spring Valley Hospital.

Leaders in Training graduates: In May, Leaders in Training announced that all program youths — deemed at risk when they started four years ago — are set to graduate high school and head to college. The list of graduates, their schools and their colleges are:

Nevada State College graduates: The college announced in May that 403 students graduated, its largest number in five years. The college awarded Juana Ivette Garcia with a Regents’ Scholar Award and three President’s Medals to local leaders and philanthropists Fred Gibson, Jr., John Gibson, and Otto Merida.

High Tech Entrepreneur Award: The Third Annual Las Vegas Women in Technology Awards ceremony honored Debbie Banko, chief executive officer of Link Technologies, with the 2016 High Tech Entrepreneur Award.
