New restaurant in Red Rock Resort: Libre Mexican Cantina recently opened in Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd. Libre is hosting Taco & Tequila Tuesdays with all-you-can-eat tacos and tequila shots for $24 and a contest to win free tacos for a year. Winter Wine Fest: The Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation is planning the fest from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 19 at Tivoli Village, 440 S. Rampart Blvd. The fest is set to include a silent auction featuring roundtrip airline tickets, a Jerry Tarkanian signed basketball and a Lake Tahoe cabin rental. Flavors of Thailand: The class is planned from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at Ferguson Enterprises, 4175 S. Grand Canyon Drive. Attendees can explore the unique ingredients and simple techniques of Thai cooking and take home recipes. One session is $55. The classes are offered by chef Les Kincaid through the UNLV Continuing Education January-August catalog. Tequila dinner to benefit Junior Achievement: Cantina Laredo at Tivoli Village, 430 S. Rampart Blvd., No. 110, and Whole Foods Market are planning a Tequila Dinner curated by executive chef Damon Workman to benefit Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26. Taste and Learn: Ferraro's Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar announced the first Taste & Learn event of 2016, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at 4480 Paradise Road. The wine and food pairing event comprises tasting pours of four wines, each accompanied by an Italian small plate prepared by Ferraro's executive chef Francesco DiCaudo. Tea fest: Tealet and Joy's Teaspoon, both of Las Vegas, announced the debut of the Southwest Tea Fest at 10 a.m. Feb. 27 at the Downtown Third Farmers Market. The event is to include live music, food trucks, cuppings, samplings, tastings, a Wu Wo Tea Ceremony, a Gong Fu Tea Ceremony, a Blind Tea Tasting, a Cupping Championship and an Art Walk. Splendor in the Glass: Southern Nevada Public Television plans its 27th annual Splendor in the Glass event from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Westgate Las Vegas, 3000 Paradise Road. The event is set to feature 60 wineries and breweries, a live wine auction, a silent auction and a jazz ensemble. Tickets cost $85 in advance or $100 at the door and will be available at Lee's Discount Liquor, Whole Foods Market, Total Wine & More and Vegas PBS in January. Attendees must be 21 or older. Evening of Hope Art and Epicurean Event: The event is planned for 4:30 p.m. March 4 in the Worldview venue on the 16th Floor, Building B, at World Market Center, 475 S. Grand Central Parkway. Proceeds benefit the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. It includes selections from Las Vegas restaurants, children's art, silent and live auction, and prizes. This year, several of the Candlelighters youths will create a piece of art during the event, to be auctioned during the evening. There also will be a Children's Art Gallery featuring photography and modern art for sale created by Candlelighters beneficiaries, from toddlers to 21-year-olds. Additionally, the 2016 Childhood Cancer Survivor Award will be presented to 9-year-old Hannah. At age 7, she was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder and aggressive form of leukemia. Other Shine Award honorees include: Chris Parker, UNLV academic adviser and assistant professor, Volunteer of the Year; Anthony Woods, Centennial Toyota, Philanthropist of the Year; and Sarah Sauls, registered nurse, Sunrise Children's Hospital, Medical Hero of the Year. Tickets are $75 per person. A limited number of VIP tickets also can be purchased for $150 per person and include a special section with a private bar and passed hors d'oeuvres. American Craft Whiskey Revival: The third annual whiskey Grand Tasting event is set from 7 to 10 p.m. March 5 at The Grand Event Center at the Golden Nugget, 129 E. Fremont St. The event offers the opportunity to sample fine artisan whiskies, American craft spirits, moonshines, and barrel-aged beers from a variety of America's distilleries. In addition, live entertainment and Southern cuisine, mixology and educational classes led by distillery owners and brand ambassadors are planned. Reset Project educational dinner: Create A Change Now recently announced its partnership with The Reset Project to bring continuous awareness and health education to families and the community. The pair are planning to host their first educational dinner, Inspire.Challenge.Engage, at 5:45 p.m. March 10 at Booker Elementary, 2277 Martin Luther King Blvd. The family-style dinner is set to feature celebrity chef Johnny Church and his prix fixe menu highlighting local farms and food artisans. Hoops & Hops: The three-day March College Basketball viewing experience is set to return to The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 17-19. In addition to featuring betting stations (open at 7:30 a.m. each day) and multiple televisions throughout the venue, guests can try interactive experiences, including access to a basketball court, billiards, shuffleboard, blackjack, an onsite sports book and more. Beer festival: Motley Brews' sixth annual Great Vegas Festival of Beer is planned from 3 to 7 p.m. April 9 near the Fremont East Entertainment District. VIP Brewer's Lounge (2 to 7 p.m.) tickets are $85 until Feb. 28, $90 after that until April 9 and $95 at the door.
