A La Carte: Dining events and news for Jan. 7-13, 2016

Project 150 anniversary: Nonprofit Project 150, which offers support and services to homeless high school students in Clark County, plans to mark its fourth anniversary with a celebration and fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. Jan. 28 at Public School 702 in Downtown Summerlin, 1850 Festival Plaza Drive. Food and drinks, a silent auction and live entertainment are planned. Tickets are $150. Beer festival: Motley Brews' sixth annual Great Vegas Festival of Beer is planned from 3 to 7 p.m. April 9 near the Fremont East Entertainment District. Early-entry tickets (2 to 7 p.m.) are $45 until Feb. 28, $50 after that until April 9 and $55 at the door. VIP Brewer's Lounge (2 to 7 p.m.) tickets are $85 until Feb. 28, $90 after that until April 9 and $95 at the door. Sons of Norway dinner: The 18th annual Lutefisk Dinner hosted by the Vegas Viking Lodge of the Sons of Norway is planned at 3 and 6 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Boulder City Elks Lodge. Tickets must be purchased by Jan. 22. The cost is $20 for adults and $5 for children 10 or younger. The menu is: lutefisk with melted butter or white sauce; roasted pork; boiled potatoes; peas and carrots; lefse (traditional soft Norwegian flatbread); coffee and iced tea; and Norwegian and other cookies. Aquavit, called the "water of life," will be available at an open bar. Take-home packets of lefse also will be sold. Checks can be made out to the Sons of Norway, to Gwen Knighton, 2156 Marstons Mills Court, Henderson, NV 89044. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a note indicating the names of those attending, whether they are going at 3 or 6 p.m., and a telephone number. Call 702-869-5775. Coffee Bean open house: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf introduced its winter lineup of beverages Jan. 4 and is planning to celebrate with an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. Jan. 14. During the open house, customers will be able to try any size (excluding 32 ounce) of the new Flavored Americanos — Hazelnut Americano and Iced Hazelnut Americano — at participating locations for $2. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's other winter drinks — Mexican Chocolate latte, ice blended drinks, and hot chocolate — will also be available.

Dine-N-Dash: Chef, author, philanthropist, and SLS Hotels Culinary Director Jose Andres is set to host Dine-N-Dash at the SLS Las Vegas, 2535 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Feb. 5, benefiting Andres' nonprofit World Central Kitchen and Three Square food bank. Modeled after the chef's annual Washington, D.C., restaurant crawl, the event is to be a culinary tour of SLS Las Vegas. General admission tickets start at $99, and VIP tickets start at $199. Barbecue restaurant opening: Alicart Restaurant Group will expand the company's presence in Las Vegas with the addition of Virgil's Real Barbecue at The Linq Promenade, 3535 Las Vegas Blvd. South, planned to open in summer 2016.

Vegas Uncork'd: The 10th anniversary of Vegas Uncork'd by Bon Appetit is planned April 28 through May 1 at four Las Vegas resorts: Caesars Palace, The Cromwell, The Venetian and the Palazzo Las Vegas. Tickets are available at vegasuncorked.com.

Tropical Smoothie offers new menu items: Tropical Smoothie Cafe is offering two new Latin-inspired flatbreads: the Smoked Queso Chicken and Mojo Pork & Swiss. Buy a slice for veterans: Pizza Forte at Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Road, now offers customers the option of buying a slice for a veteran. Customers will have the option of buying a Hofmann hot dog for $2, a slice of cheese pizza for $2 or an entire cheese pizza for $11.11. They will then be asked to write a thank you note on a pizza-shaped card that will be provided by Pizza Forte. Those notes will be hung up on the walls. When veterans come into Pizza Forte, they can redeem the notes for a complimentary slice of pizza or a whole pizza. The offer will be available throughout the year and at all Pizza Forte locations. Taste the Rock: Red Rock Resort, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd, has announced Taste the Rock, a small bites tasting featuring a selection of drinks and dishes from the resort's lineup of restaurants and lounges. Taste the Rock is designed to give guests an opportunity to try a variety of signature cocktails and dishes rotating seasonally.
