Literary Las Vegas: Tami Belt
February 4, 2016 - 2:35 pm
Friendship, affection, rejection, beauty, music, fear, longing and loneliness are among the topics Las Vegas native Tami Belt explores in her poetry. Belt, founder of the public relations company Blue Cube Marketing Solutions, recently released "Poetic Justice: Lessons of Love, Life & Relationships." The collection features a cover by Las Vegas-raised artist Jennifer Main and is peppered with illustrations and photographs and the sentiment that "Even if we find ourselves in a story we didn't start we have the power to write the ending." Excerpt:
I want starry nights
and moonlight dances
holding hands
and romantic glances
I want caring arms
waiting to unfold
and special feelings
wanting to be told
I want picnic baskets
filled with cheese and wine
shared in a world
where there exists no time
I want parks at night
to swing on swings
and all the romance
that a moonlight walk brings
I want endless nights
dawned with laughter
two bodies entangled
in the morning after
I want weekends spent
in hide-a-way places
where dreams come true
to two smiling faces
I want all my dreams
to finally come true
I want them to be
set free by you
