ONLINE REPORTING SYSTEM ADDED TO METRO’S WEBSITE

A new Web page at tinyurl.com/metropdreport allows residents to file nonemergency reports with the Metropolitan Police Department.

The reports are immediately sent to police for review. Once approved, those who filed the reports will receive an email with a copy attached. The completed report will transfer into the department’s records management system and receive the same investigation and statistical analysis as if it had been filed by an officer or at a substation, according to Metro.

Offenses that can be reported are harassment; forgery; fraudulent credit card use; grand larceny involving less than $3,500; property destruction ranging from $250 to $2,500; burglary of an automobile, auto parts or accessories; and automobile theft.

The reporting system is expected to allow officers more time to address community needs.
