Sunrise Coffee shines as Las Vegas locals’ favorite for atmosphere, options

Community atmosphere? Check. Organic and fair trade? Check. Vegetarian and vegan options? Check. Sunrise Coffee House, 3130 E. Sunset Road, has it all.

Despite being located in an industrial area, the coffee shop has established a reputation. From its Instagram-worthy lattes to its savory sandwiches and sweet pastries, something on the menu is sure to fill just about any craving.

Juanny Romero and Josh Walter started Sunrise Coffee in 2008 with the idea of bringing the neighborhood coffee shop to Las Vegas.

Coffee addicts can rejoice over its variety-filled menu, which includes drip coffee, cafe lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, macchiatos, con panna, or “espresso with cream,” and piccolo, a smaller version of a latte. Among popular flavors are Nutella, creme brulee, French vanilla, Mexican mocha, orange mocha, truffle berry and dolce.

Seasonal coffee items include pumpkin spice, candy cane, spiced mocha, s’mores, Butterbeer and Brimstone. Looking for something more classic? Coffees also include mocha, caramel, hazelnut, vanilla, white mocha, mint mocha and caramel vanilla.

The coffee comes from micro co-ops in single-origin farms that cultivate organic fair trade beans, according to the cafe website.

For those who enjoy tea, the menu also includes classic teas, such as black Assam, Earl Grey and chamomile. Specialty tea items include green matcha, Hakuna Matata, and Cherry Jubilee Iced Peach tea. For more caffeine, try the tea lattes, made from black, green, Earl Grey, chai or London Fog Hakuna Matata.

If the caffeine isn’t enough to start a new day, the food offerings might do the trick.

The Nom Nom Burrito comes with eggs, vegetarian beans, potatoes, cheese, spinach, tomatoes, avocados, sour cream and cream cheese bundled up in a tortilla.

Granola for Happy Tummy is a mix of granola, flax seeds, raw nuts, sliced bananas, and agave with milk poured over.

For lunch, there’s the popular Alien Left a Burrito in the Middle East, made with tortilla, couscous, beans, cheese, hummus, spinach, tomato, avocado, red bell pepper and house-made ranch.

There’s also the Tofurky sandwich made with toasted multigrain bread, hummus, balsamic ranch dressing, red bell pepper, tomato, avocado, spinach, cheese and Tofurky.

Other items include bagels, croissants, cookies, scones and assorted muffins. Many food items can also be requested vegan.

Sunrise Coffee House is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday through Sunday.
