Sunny weather for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Valley is expected to be “sunny and nice through the weekend,” National Weather Service meteorologist Justin Pullin said.

Friday’s high will be 80 degrees, 9 degrees above they yearly average. Come the weekend, the valley will see even higher temperatures with 82 on Saturday and 85 for Sunday, Pullin said.

“This will be the first 85-degree day of the year,” he said.

Typically, the high for this time of the year is about 10 to 15 degrees cooler.

Because of warmer temperatures, the snow in Mount Charleston is expected to melt fairly quickly, Pullin said. The snow will start to disappear almost completely within the next few days, he said, because of the sun’s angle and higher nighttime temperatures.

A storm system may move over the valley early next week, bringing cooler temperatures and rain on Monday and Tuesday.
