Las Vegas theater season offers wide variety, including many famous scripts

For the upcoming season, Las Vegas theatergoers are in for some treats, including Stephen Sondheim’s “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at Nevada Conservatory and “Sweeney Todd” at Green Valley Ranch Resort. Insurgo Theater will inhabit a new space at the Plaza (its premiere production is Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot”). And Las Vegas Academy tackles the musicals “Guys and Dolls” and “Big River” as well as Thornton Wilder’s revered “Our Town.” And that’s not all.

Ruvo Center and its patients move forward

The director of the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health says there is a great need for physical therapy and occupational therapy services for people with brain conditions, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis. The physical therapy branch of the center near downtown has been open since early August and soon will need an office in another part of the Las Vegas Valley.

Plaza hotel-casino reopens with new look

The Plaza hotel-casino, which has gone through ups and more recently downs over the past four decades, formally reopens for business Thursday after its owners spent nearly a year and $35 million on renovations.

X-ray reveals cocaine pellets in suspect’s body

A German man is facing a drug charge after authorities accused him of trying to board a plane with more than a kilogram of cocaine in his digestive system. According to court records, an X-ray revealed Christopher Adiegwu had numerous 1-inch pellets in his upper digestive system after he was stopped on Aug. 17 at McCarran International Airport.
