Raiders vs Chiefs score, highlights in Week 18 victory
The Raiders beat the Kansas City Chiefs 14-12 on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Week 18 thanks to Daniel Carloson’s 60-yard field with eight seconds to play.
That win was with hardly anything on the line for either team.
The Raiders (3-14) clinched the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft before kickoff thanks to the New York Giants’ victory over the Dallas Cowboys. They ended a 10-game losing streak, but with a massive rebuild ahead, will Pete Carroll be one-and-done as coach? All signs indicate that’s the case.
Kansas City (6-11) will miss the postseason for the first time since 2014. And what about Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce? Will he return for another season or head to the tortured poets department and do podcasts with Taylor Swift full time?
Here’s what happened:
Raiders win on FG
4Q, 0:08 left: Raiders 14, Chiefs 12
Daniel Carlson’s 60-yard field goal barely beat the crossbar and gave the Raiders a season-ending victory.
Chiefs grab late lead
4Q, 1:01 left: Chiefs 12, Raiders 11
The bend-don’t-break defense holds the Chiefs to a field goal. Harrison Butker is good from 41 yards and Kansas City regains the lead.
We could have a Scorigami at 12-11 for those keeping track.
Chiefs in red zone at 2-minute warning
Raiders 11, Chiefs 9
The Raiders defense, which was so good all game, finally breaks down at the worst time.
Kansas City quarterback Shane Buechele hits Hollywood Brown for a 51-yard gain, and the Chiefs are in business at the Raiders’ 23-yard line at the two-minute warning.
Raiders hold Chiefs to FG
4Q, 3:33 left: Raiders 11, Chiefs 9
The Raiders defense did its job, holding the Chiefs out of the end zone after the Dylan Laube fumble. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker sends it through from 47 yards away to cut the Raiders lead to two points.
What this game lacks in scoring it’s made up for in wackiness.
Raiders fumble on ensuing kick
Dylan Laube’s fumble woes continued, as the Raiders running back coughed up the ball on the kick return after the safety. The Chiefs recovered at the Raiders’ 21 with 4:30 remaining.
Raiders add to lead on safety
4Q, 4:37 left: Raiders 11, Chiefs 6
Tyree Wilson blasts Shane Buechele in the end zone for the safety. It’s his second sack of the game, and the pass rusher is showing why he was a first-round pick.
Tyree Wilson gets home for the SAFETY!

Special teams helps Raiders
The Raiders offense continues to struggle, but the punt coverage unit did its job pinning the Chiefs at their own 6 with 5:56 remaining. Kansas City has a long way to go with an offense that has done squat so far.
Raiders maintain lead
4Q, 10:20 left: Raiders 9, Chiefs 6
Shane Buechele hasn’t fared much better at quarterback for the Chiefs. The big question now is whether Ashton Jeanty can get the Raiders ground game going and reach 1,000 yards for the season.
Carlson connects from distance for lead
4Q, 13:16 left: Raiders 9, Chiefs 6
Special teams hasn’t been a strength for the Raiders, but Daniel Carlson comes through on this attempt. He is successful from a season-long 55 yards to give the Raiders the lead.
Las Vegas native and Gorman grad Jaden Hicks makes a great play for KC to break up that potential touchdown to Tre Tucker. #Raiders

Raiders driving at end of 3rd quarter
Raiders 6, Chiefs 6
Aidan O’Connell connected with Tre Tucker for a 16-yard gain down to the Kansas City 38 as the quarter ended.
The Raiders are on the move, and it appears O’Connell will take the offense home in the fourth quarter and try to end the 10-game losing skid.
Chiefs answer with tying FG
3Q, 4:11 left: Raiders 6, Chiefs 6
Kansas City cashed in on the play by its defense, driving 50 yards in 12 plays. Harrison Butker capped the march with a 40-yard field goal that tied the score.
Tonka Hemingway had a big third-down sack for the Raiders.
Also of note, Travis Kelce became the third tight end in NFL history to surpass 13,000 career receiving yards.

Jeanty gets stuffed on 4th down
Q3, 11:44 left: Raiders 6, Chiefs 3
The Raiders got aggressive on fourth down from the Chiefs’ 27-yard line. But Ashton Jeanty was stopped for a 1-yard loss, and the Raiders turned over the ball on downs.
Plenty for the analytics community to discuss so far with some of the coaching decisions.
Second half begins
The Raiders receive the kick. Aidan O’Connell opens at quarterback.
Raiders halftime stats
Aidan O’Connell 2 of 7, 17 yards
Kenny Pickett 1 of 4, 3 yards, 1 interception
Ashton Jeanty 15 carries, 63 yards; 1 reception, 3 yards
Tre Tucker 1 reception, 14 yards
Tyree Wilson 4 tackles, 1 sack
Raiders defense steps up
HALFTIME: Raiders 6, Chiefs 3
The Raiders held Kansas City to 72 yards and four first downs. They sacked quarterback Chris Oladokun three times and forced two turnovers.
It hasn’t been pretty, but it’s been effective so far.
Raiders lead before halftime
Q2, 1:52 left: Raiders 6, Chiefs 3
The Raiders thought about going for it on fourth-and-2, but Pete Carroll settled for a field goal. Daniel Carlson knocked it through from 23 yards away and the Raiders lead despite a few boos from the crowd at Allegiant Stadium.
Raiders catch a break
Q2, 2:58 left: Raiders 3, Chiefs 3
Chiefs quarterback Chris Oladokun scrambles and fumbles after being hit by Tyree Wilson. It looked like he might have been down, but replay confirmed it’s Raiders ball at the Kansas City 18-yard line.
Carlson ties score
2Q, 7:20 left: Raiders 3, Chiefs 3
The Raiders decided to put the ball in the hands of Ashton Jeanty after the turnover, and the rookie running back was able to get the offense into the red zone before settling for a 32-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson.
It’s tough not to picture Fernando Mendoza making these throws in the fall.
Raiders force turnover
2Q, 11:37 left: Chiefs 3, Raiders 0
Cue the Keystone Cops music. Tyree Wilson decided to show up for the Raiders defense and forced a sack/fumble that was recovered by defensive lineman J.J. Pegues.
The Raiders have the ball at the Kansas City 44, and there’s life in Allegiant Stadium.
Sack. FUMBLE. @Raiders recover.

It’s a fake
With nothing to lose (or gain) the Raiders went for a fake punt in their own territory.
Isaiah Pola-Mao was stopped short and the Chiefs take over at the Raiders’ 36 with a chance to extend the lead.
Jeanty hits milestone
Running back Ashton Jeanty is still hunting for the 1,000-yard mark. But he did manage to become just the second rookie RB in Raiders history to rush for more than 900 yards. Josh Jacobs (1,150 yards in 2019) is the other.
RB Ashton Jeanty (@AshtonJeanty2) has surpassed 900 rushing yards this season, becoming just the second rookie RB in #Raiders history to rush for 900+ yards (Josh Jacobs - 1,150 in 2019).

QB change
Aidan O’Connell is making his season debut at quarterback for the Raiders with 13:30 remaining in the second quarter. Let’s see if he can get the offense going.
Raiders trail after 1st quarter
End Q1: Chiefs 3, Raiders 0
Bad offense? Good defense? Probably more of the former than the latter, but this has not been an exciting game thus far. The Chiefs have 49 yards and three first downs, and they lead. The Raiders are averaging 1.1 yards per play.
Former UNLV standout steps up
Chiefs safety Nohl Williams unloaded on Raiders quarterback Kenny Pickett for a sack, and the Raiders are forced to punt again. They have 12 yards on 11 plays so far.
Williams played three seasons at UNLV before transferring to Cal for his final two years. He was selected in the third round of the 2025 draft.
Chiefs open scoring
Q1, 4:58 left: Chiefs 3, Raiders 0
After a couple of nice runs by Kansas City’s Brashard Smith, the Raiders defense held on third down and forced a field goal. Harrison Butker knocked it through from 36 yards to put the visitors on top.
Offenses stall
Q1, 8:31 left: Raiders 0, Chiefs 0
This is the type of start you’d expect with a pair of backup quarterbacks in there. So far: 12 plays, 16 yards, three punts and one turnover combined.
Chiefs create turnover
Q1, 12:14 left: Raiders 0, Chiefs 0
The first big play of the game is made by Kansas City’s Chamarri Conner, who stepped in front of a pass by Kenny Pickett intended for Jack Bech. The Chiefs take over at the Raiders’ 46.

Raiders offense takes the field
The Raiders forced a punt, and Kenny Pickett opens at quarterback, and Aidan O’Connell is also expected to play.
Raiders win toss
The Raiders won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. The Chiefs get the ball first.
No. 1 pick locked up
The Raiders didn’t need to lose to secure the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. The New York Giants helped them out by beating the Dallas Cowboys.
It’s the first time since 2007 that the Raiders will have the first overall pick. That choice didn’t go so well (JaMarcus Russell), but maybe the Raiders will get it right this time.
Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, the Heisman Trophy winner, is projected to be the first player selected.
Sunday’s inactives
No major surprises from the Raiders in terms of Sunday’s inactive players. Quarterback Geno Smith is out.
