American Eagle Outfitters to open store in Showcase Mall

Clothing retailer American Eagle Outfitters will open a store at Showcase Mall on the Las Vegas Strip.

American Eagle spokeswoman Sharron Silvers declined to comment except to say it will be a high-volume store.

A spokesman for Showcase could not be reached for comment.

American Eagle already has five locations in the valley, including ones at Town Square, Fashion Show and Downtown Summerlin shopping centers.

The retailer’s quarterly earnings report earlier this month beat analyst expectations and shows that the company posted double-digit growth for its Aerie brand of clothing for young women, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The retailer’s move into Showcase is just the latest change at the shopping center.

Earlier this year, telecommunications giant T-Mobile received a permit for a 10,000-square-foot space inside the southern part of Showcase.

Adidas opened a remodeled store at the Showcase Mall on Aug. 10. A county permit from April detailed $1.2 million worth of work on a 10,000-square-foot space.

In May, the Grand Canyon Experience gift shop housed in that part of Showcase Mall announced its move to Grand Bazaar Shops.
