Las Vegas morning update for Thursday, January 4th — VIDEO

Here are your Thursday morning headlines:
1. Nevada doctors are already venting about a new opioid prescription law that took effect in the new year. In a meeting of the state medical and dental boards Wednesday, several doctors said the law makes unreasonable paperwork demands and that regulations don’t specify conduct that could lead to penalties. The new law penalizes doctors who issue illegal or inappropriate prescriptions for pain medications.
2. Kirstin Lobato was freed from jail after spending more than 15 years behind bars for the killing of a homeless man. A judge granted a request for Lobato’s immediate release Wednesday and the same judge had dismissed Lobato’s case days earlier. A jury convicted Lobato for first-degree murder in 2002, but Lobato maintained her innocence throughout.
3. In-N-Out Burger has added its first new menu item in more than 15 years. Hot cocoa is now available at all In-N-Out restaurants nationwide, complete with Ghirardelli chocolate and marshmallows. In-N-Out President Lynsi Snyder said that hot chocolate was on the menu in the ’50s, but seemingly fell off.
