Las Vegas morning update for Thursday, October 5th — VIDEO

Here are your Thursday morning headlines:

1. The Las Vegas Fire Department is fighting a two-alarm fire at the vacant Moulin Rouge near downtown Las Vegas. West Bonanza Road is closed between Martin Luther King Boulevard and Main Street, as crews try to extinguish the fire. A judge is expected to soon decide who will be the new owners of the Bonanza Road property that’s seen decades worth of failed redevelopment attempts.

2. The Clark County School District announced on social media they received unsubstantiated threats of a possible school shooting. The school district said it appeared similar threats were made across five different states, and the school district was working with local law enforcement to investigate the threats. School police Capt. Ken Young emphasized the threats were not credible.

3. Las Vegas Strip shooter Stephen Paddock used his Mandalay Bay hotel room to fire bullets at jet fuel tanks Sunday night, a knowledgeable source told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The bullets left two holes in one of two circular white tanks near the Route 91 Harvest festival. One of the bullets penetrated the tank, but did not cause a fire or explosion. The tanks are roughly 1,100 feet from the concert site.
