Pedestrian dies after being struck by car on Lake Mead Boulevard

A 54-year-old man died Monday night after he was struck by a car while walking across Lake Mead Boulevard in the northeast valley, according to Las Vegas police.

Officers were called about 7 p.m. to Lake Mead just south of Hollywood Boulevard, police said Tuesday in a news release.

The pedestrian, a Las Vegas man who will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office, was hit by a 2004 Acura TL driven by a 23-year-old Las Vegan, police said.

The pedestrian was critically injured and taken to University Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

Metro said the man was not in a crosswalk when he was struck. The Acura driver stayed to talk to police.

No one was cited.

This was the 13th person killed on roadways this year in Metro’s jurisdiction.
