Agency seeks innovations to improve pedestrian safety in Southern Nevada

Technology may be the next frontier in combating pedestrian fatalities in Southern Nevada.

The Nevada Center for Advanced Mobility put out a call to companies that “go beyond traditional approaches and investigate new technology options” aimed at improving safety for people who walk on local sidewalks.

The technology must be at, or beyond, prototype development and ready to roll out, according to the agency, which has partnered with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, the Nevada Department of Transportation and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on the effort.

The request for information is for planning purposes only and can be downloaded at nevadacam.org. Responses are due by 4 p.m. Sept. 28, and should be sent by email to challenge@nevadacam.org, using the subject line “Technology Solutions for Enhanced Pedestrian Safety RFI Response.”
