Roundup: Coronado rolls to Southeast League victory

Semi Penor carded a 2-under-par 70 to earn medalist honors and help the Coronado girls golf team win a Southeast League match at Anthem on Tuesday.

Five Cougars finished in the top eight, including Crystal Querol, who shot 72, and Victoria Estrada, who shot a 74.

The Cougars shot 302 as a team, 90 strokes better than second-place Green Valley. Silverado finished third at 478, and Liberty was fourth at 542.

Liberty’s Taylor Thompson tied for second with 72.

Boulder City wins Sunrise League match

Boulder City’s Lani Potter shot par 36 to earn medalist honors and help the Eagles win a Sunrise League match at Chimera Golf Club that was shortened to nine holes because of the heat.

Boulder City shot 174 as a team, and Tech was second at 194. Chaparral shot 267 to place third.

Tech’s Cassidy Phelan placed second individually with a 38, and Ryan Reese of Boulder City placed third with an 44.

Centennial narrowly beats Bishop Gorman

Centennial golfers took three of the top five spots, including co-medalist McKenzi Hall’s par 36 to edge Bishop Gorman 162-164 in a nine-hole match at Paiute.

Gorman’s Hunter Pate also carded 36, followed by Centennial’s Hailey Stevenson at 37.

Sloan Pyatt shot 40 for the Gaels, and was followed by teammate Sidney Stevers at 44 and Jade Magana’s 44 for the Bulldogs.
