Roundup: Spartans top Basic in four sets

Johnathan Mika had 15 kills and three aces Thursday to help host Cimarron-Memorial’s boys volleyball team to a 25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23 win over Basic.

Kilmor Amor had four kills and three aces for the Spartans.

Chris Jepson had six kills and 10 blocks for the Wolves. Oscar Gonzalez added 11 kills, and Taulima DeVoux had nine kills for Basic.

Tech 3, Chaparral 0 — At Tech, Andrew Luong had six kills as the Roadrunners beat the Cowboys, 25-9, 25-21, 25-20.

Jerin Lascon added three kills, eight aces and six digs, and Clayton Faught had nine assists for Tech.

Bonanza 3, Western 0 — At Bonanza, Mark Thuet had nine kills and four aces to lead the Bengals past the Warriors, 25-12, 25-12, 25-14.

Rayden McLaughlin had five kills and four aces, and Mataio Valoaga had eight kills and seven digs for Bonanza, which got 23 assists and four aces from Anthany Lemus.

Spring Valley 3, Somerset-Losee 0 — At Spring Valley, Nubar Urfalyan had five kills and two aces to help the Grizzlies to a 25-8, 25-9, 25-12 win over the Lions.

Mariano Saucedo added four kills, and Jakob Repolio had three aces and two blocks for Spring Valley.

All-state teams to be announced in June

All-state teams in all eight spring sports will be released one per day, beginning on June 6 with boys golf.

Roundup: Caleb Stearman helps Foothill into Desert final

Stearman’s sixth kill of the fifth set allowed the Falcons to complete a 20-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-11 comeback and advance to both Friday’s region final and next week’s state tournament.

Kilmor Amor had 15 kills, 23 assists and 10 digs Wednesday to help Cimarron-Memorial’s boys volleyball team down Shadow Ridge, 20-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 in the quarterfinals of the Mountain Region Tournament at Palo Verde.
